    Greetings Dragon Lords,
It's been awesome to see a number of you express interest in getting your own channels started to livestream, so below are some resources to help you get started! Guides for additional platforms will be added, too.
It would also be great to start identifying people here who actively stream, too, so do leave a comment with a link to your channel if you'd like to share.

Over the next few months, we'll be setting up some special streams involving previews of new in-game content and take you behind the scenes. Be sure to check back here, the War Dragons Facebook and Twitter, and in-game for those announcements.

    Twitch: Livestream Set-up (Windows)
    Required Items:
    • Windows PC
    • iPhone or iPad
    • Lightning Digital AV Adapter
    • HDMI Cord
    • Capture Card (Elgato HD, Elgato HD60)
    • Open Broadcaster Software (OBS or OBS Multiplatform)
    • Microphone
    • Webcam (Technically not required, but highly recommended!)
Note: You may also have success capturing gameplay with X-Mirage or Reflector to mirror your device, but we haven’t personally tested it. There are also many other capture cards on the market, but not all will be compatible. The Elgatos are just a safe choice.

    Step 1
Install and set-up capture card according to manufacturer’s instructions.

    Step 2
Connect iPhone or iPad to capture card with Lightning Digital AV Adapter.

    Step 3
Use the Official Quick Start Guide for OBS to configure basic settings.

Note: Unpartnered Twitch streamers should generally use a maximum bitrate of 2000 so more people are able to view your stream without buffering issues.
(We have had good results with 2000 bitrate at 1280x720 resolution at 30 fps, but this will be dependent on your bandwidth.)

    Step 4
Add Capture Card to the scene as a Video Capture Device.

    Step 5
Add Webcam to the scene as a Video Capture Device.

    Step 6
If using a USB 2.0 capture device (ex: Elgato) adjust the webcam and mic delay to sync with gameplay. (USB 3.0 Devices will not have a delay.)
Will usually be around 1500ms - 2000ms, but use test recordings to adjust as needed.
    • OBS Multiplatform
      • Audio: Gear icon next to “Mixer” -> Sync Offset
      • Webcam: Right-click on source -> Filter -> “+” under Audio/Video Filters -> Video Delay -> Delay
    • OBS
      • Audio: Gear icon next to “Mixer” -> Sync Offset
      • Webcam: Right-click on source -> Filter -> “+” under Audio/Video Filters -> Video Delay -> Delay
    Twitch: Livestream Set-up (Mac)
    Required Items:Step 1
Install and configure Soundflower to capture desktop audio.
    • Open Soundflower
    • Go to Audio Setup
    • Click "+" at bottom -> Multi-output Device
    • Check "Soundflower 2ch" and the device you will be listening from.
    • Check "Drift Correction" on the device you will be listening from.
    • Right-click the Multi-output Device you just made -> Select Device for Sound Output
    Step 2
Use the Lightning Cable to connect your iOS device to your Mac computer.

    Step 3
    Load iOS device in QuickTime.
    • Start QuickTime -> File -> New Movie Recording -> Click arrow next to Record button -> Select device for video and audio
    Step 4
Use the Official Quick Start Guide for OBS to configure basic settings.

Note: Unpartnered Twitch streamers should generally use a maximum bitrate of 2000 so more people are able to view your stream without buffering issues.
(We have had good results with 2000 bitrate at 1280x720 resolution at 30 fps, but this will be dependent on your bandwidth.)

    Step 5
Add Quicktime as a Display Capture.
    • Click “+” -> Display Capture -> Display, Select appropriate monitor -> Crop, To Window -> Window, QuickTime Player
Note: Make sure the QuickTime window will be unobstructed on desktop as OBS will capture anything layered over it.

    Step 6
Add Webcam to the scene as a Video Capture Device.
    • Click “+” -> Video Capture Device -> Device, Select Webcam
    Step 7
Click Gear Icon next to Mixer to set audio devices.
    • Desktop Audio -> "Soundflower 2ch"
    • Mic/Auxiliary -> Microphone
    Twitch: Additional Tools
    Moobot
Chat bot to facilitate simple raffles, run messages in chat at set intervals.

    TwitchAlerts
Tool to display on screen notifications to welcome new followers and Twitch chat.

    NightDev KapChat
OBS Plugin to display Twitch chat on the live stream.
Download the below plugin in addition if using OBS Multiplatform.

    OBS Multiplatform Browser Plugin
Allows integration of TwitchAlerts and KapChat on OBS Multiplatform.

    Twitch: Best Practices
    • Welcome people who chat and follow the channel, but allow lurkers to lurk.
    • Talk to your viewers and keep them engaged! Even if no one one happens to be chatting, talk about what you’re doing in the game, or anything really! It’ll take practice to avoid dead air, but the more you chat (even with yourself!) the more likely it is a new viewer will stick around to watch.
    • Ask your friends and your in-game team to hang out with you. You’ll have much more fun with people to talk to, and it sets up a welcoming place for newcomers.
    • Keep in mind that viewers see everything about 1 minute behind.
    • Be aware that everything on your mobile device screen will be streamed.
      • To disable calls and notifications:
        • Swipe up from bottom of device.
        • Tap “Moon” to turn Do Not Disturb on.
        • Go to Settings -> Do Not Disturb -> Set “Silence” to Always.
      • If you need to delete a broadcast go to My Profile -> Video you want to delete -> Delete.
    • Note the best moments of a stream and create Highlights. This will save the clip indefinitely. It can also be exported to YouTube, or linked to directly.
These guidelines for setup are just the tip of the iceberg. There are many more advanced features you can set up on your stream once you get the basics down. YouTube and reddit.com/r/Twitch are great resources to get help and learn something new. Watching other streamers will also help generate new ideas to implement on your own stream, too!
    Mobcrush: Livestream Set-up (Mac Only!)

    • iPhone or iPad (iOS 8 or later)
    • Lightning Cable (Your charging cable)

    • Mobcrush Desktop Application (https://www.mobcrush.com/mac/)

Connect iPhone or iPad to Mac computer via Lightning cable.

    Step 3

    Step 4

    Step 5
Select the appropriate devices for Camera, Mic Input, and Mobile Device.

    Step 6
“M” icon will light up yellow when all devices are detected. Click it to go live!
    Screen Shot 2015-09-20 at 4.23.46 PM.png

    Camera Controls
Clicking the camera icon will give you additional options to control the look of the stream.

First option: Swaps fullscreen between game and webcam.
Second option: Pixelates the game. Useful if you need to enter sensitive information.
Third option: Built in green-screen chroma key. (Not sure how well this works.)

    Screen Shot 2015-09-20 at 4.34.11 PM.png

    Mic Controls
Speaker icon allows the broadcaster to mix audio between game and mic sounds.
Set this towards the right so viewers will be able to hear you over the game audio.
    Screen Shot 2015-09-20 at 4.42.02 PM.png

Mobcrush: SOMETHING IS BROKEN - HELP!
    Broadcast Preview is not displaying.
Sometimes even when the app recognizes your device it will not show up in the preview preventing you from going live.
    Fixes:
    • Restart your mobile device.
    • Restart your computer.
    Mobcrush: Best Practices
    • Call out and welcome those in chat.
    • Chat window will indicate people who follow and “like” the stream. Thank them!
    • Respond to questions and comments, but understand that viewers see everything about 2 minutes behind.
      • If you need to delete a broadcast, go to http://mobcrush.com/ -> My Channel -> Video you want to delete -> Delete.

    YouTube Gaming: Set-up

    Step 1
    • Go to gaming.youtube.com to create an account or sign in.
    Step 2
    • Click “Go Live” in the top right corner to view your Live Streaming Dashboard.
    Step 3
    • For initial technical set-up, see Twitch on Windows and Mac guides.
    Step 4
    • In OBS Stream Settings, change Service to YouTube/YouTube Gaming and input the “Stream name/key” found on the Live Streaming Dashboard into the “Stream key” box in OBS.
    Step 5Step 6
    • Create an image to use as the thumbnail for the stream. People will see this as they browse game directories so create something relevant and eye catching.
      Use a 16:9 ratio; 1280x720 works well.
    Step 7
    • Create a title for the stream. Again, make this relevant, descriptive, and interesting! People will see this right above your thumbnail when browsing the directory and under your video feed when viewing the stream.
    Step 8
    • Fill in the description field with information regarding the stream and other places people can find you online. Links are clickable in this field as long as “http://” is added to the start of it; use this to your advantage to promote your online presence and additional content!
    Step 9
    • Add the appropriate “Game Title” under “Category.”
    Step 10
    • You’re ready to go live! Click “Start Streaming” in OBS and have fun!
    YouTube Gaming: Best Practices
    • Most of the Best Practices found in the Twitch guide are relevant here, too!
    • YouTube created a “Best Practices” guide covering technical nuances and social media promotion. Check it out here: https://support.google.com/youtube/t...139-2865966366
    • Be careful streaming games with music; even if the music is part of the game it may still register a Copyright Claim on your account and shut down your live stream until corrected.
    • You can assign Moderators to help you manage chat if needed. Check out this page for a list of built-in moderation tools.

Canada has legal restrictions on giveaways based on randomness or luck.
We're looking into ways to create more giveaways that will include additional countries, it's just a bit complicated since each country has different laws.
        Hopefully we'll have something soon!

It would also be great to have a small rundown about the topics of each stream such as "Upcoming Fire Turret" or "Upcoming dragon armor" and maybe what's behind that if people like a sneak peek but don't have time to watch an hour-long video
